Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. gave P2,141,000 in financial assistance to families affected by typhoon “Pablo” in Hinoba-an, Cauayan, and Sipalay during the weekend.
Families whose houses were destroyed received P5,000 each while those with damaged ones got P3,000 each in financial aid, a Capitol press release said.
Seventy-six houses were destroyed -- 64 in Hinoba-an, five in Sipalay City and seven in Cauayan, it added.
Out of the 587 damaged houses, 557 were in Hinoba-an, and 15 each in Sipalay City and Cauayan.
Earlier, the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, also gave about 800 family packs containing three kilos of rice, three tins of sardines, and three pouches of noodles to affected families, the press release said.
The Philippine National Red Cross also provided 80 family packs for affected families in Hinoba-an.
Present at the activity were Provincial Board Member Melvin Ibañez, executive assistant to the Governor Angel Verdeflor, PSWD Officer Liane Garcia, local and barangay officials, among others.* back
