Mass wedding held in Murcia

One hundred eighty four couples were married at a mass wedding in Murcia town Saturday, and 11 of them won the “longest kiss” contest.

The mass wedding was administered by Mayor Andrew Montelibano at the Murcia Sports and Cultural Center as part of the town's fiesta.
Present were senatorial candidates Juan Miguel Zubiri and vice presidential daughter Nancy Binay.

Binay extended her father’s greetings to the people of Murcia. The vice president is known as adopted son of the town of Murcia.

The couples should value their love for each other, she said she told the wives that they are the law in the family and therefore the husbands should follow what their wives want.
Zubiri said trust, love and understanding are vital in a relationship. You should love one another and cherish each other, he added

Montelibano stressed the importance of the sacrament of marriage.

"You need to trust each other," he said.
The oldest couple married Saturday were Rodolfo Recopuerto, 62 and Beverlyn Fernandez, 43.
Municipal Civil Registrar Cecil Yu and staff supervised the mass wedding. Also present were Vice Mayor Gerry Rojas and Sangguniang Bayan member Nick Constantino.*
