Mayor designates
firecracker sale site
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued Memorandum No. 169 designating the north side of the Bacolod City Government Center as the location for the sale of fire crackers and pyrotechnics.

In his memorandum dated November 29, the Mayor directed Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, head of the City Mayor’s Office Price Monitoring Unit, to coordinate with various heads and representatives of the offices concerned in all matters related to the designation of the location for the display and retail sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnics.

Pineda yesterday said only vendors, who have attended the seminars in Iloilo conducted by the Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection, will be allowed to sell firecrackers and pyrotechnics.

They will have to rent the space at P1,000 per kiosk from the owners of the property and pay P500 to the city for a special permit fees, he said.

Pineda said that after the vendors have complied with all the requirements, they have until December 31 to sell fire crackers and pyrotechnics.

He said the vendors are requesting that there should be no road closure before 10 p.m. during the countdown on December 31 to allow their customers to park within the government center grounds.*CGS
