IN 2ND DISTRICT
Arnaiz releases PDAF
to typhoon victims
BY RENE GENOVE

Rep. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2nd District) released recently his Priority Development Assistance Fund for victims of typhoon “Pablo” in Negros Oriental.

Arnaiz said the amount was distributed to officials of towns in the second district, under the category of “individuals who are in crisis situations” and need assistance.

He thanked contractors in the district, who volunteered to lend their equipment to towns that needed immediate fixing, dredging and bulldozing. He also said the funds will be released to leaders and mayors who are his party-mates in the Nationalist Peoples Coalition.

He admitted that this is a political decision, and that, if he gives funds to non-political allies, it will not reach his supporters.

Meanwhile, San Miguel Corporation president and CEO, Ramon Anghas, offered to help victims of “Pablo” in Negros Oriental, former Finance Secretary Gary Teves, SMC director, said in a press release. He urged mayors of affected localities to submit the list of victims and the type of assistance needed, the press release added.

The company offered to assist residents in southern Negros Oriental, whose houses were destroyed last week.

Teves also commended local officials and government agencies for undertaking preemptive measures, that helped minimize typhoon damage.

He encouraged leaders to work together in the post-disaster assessment of damage to infrastructure and agriculture.*RG
