School alumni
launch projects

The Paglaum Village National High School Alumni Association in Bacolod City has launched various projects with the help of the faculty and school administration recently, its press release said.

These were the completion of the concreting the wall of the school in coordination with school organizations and the Parents-Teachers Association, a fire safety seminar with the Bureau of Fire Protection, and several for a for students, the press release also said.

The association also launched its logo, highlighted by a globe with the Philippines in the center, that showed that the alumni have proven themselves nationally and internationally, the press release added.*

Garden Club officers inducted

The newly-elected officers and directors of the Negros Occidental Garden Club were inducted into office at their Christmas party at the Bacolod Pavillon Resort Hotel and Restaurant Monday, with former Rep. Cynthia Villar as guest of honor and inducting officer.

Sworn in were Lourdes Mercado, president; Carissa Maalat, 1st vice president; Gigi Flores, 2nd VP; Zenaida Guzon, secretary; Emma Lipa, 1st assistant secretary; Jane Lizares, 2nd assistant secretary; Celia Ferrer, treasurer; Ilde Guerrero, 1st assistant treasurer; Daphne Javelosa, 2nd assistant treasurer; Necena Ong, auditor; Viol Caram, PIO; Tessie Aplaon, head of special projects; Lita Cruz, special events; and Luisa Javellana for media support, a press release from the club said.

Mercado said her priorities will include the 2013 Garden Show and expanding the club's “full meal”’ program for undernourished school children, the press release said.

The club also made donations to the Philippine Mental Health Association and to the Gawad Kalinga for its fifth house donation, the press release added.*

NPC commends
supporters

The Negros Press Club, led by Arman Toga, gave certificates of appreciation to individuals and corporations who supported the club’s activities, during a Christmas Party at Nature’s Village and Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Saturday.

Among the recipients were businessman Vladimir Gonzalez for supporting the club’s mangrove planting activity in Punta-Taytay, Bacolod City, in April and for donating memorial lots to its members; John and Jasmin Javier of Zealtxt Trading for donating a cellphone for use in the NPC office and providing free load monthly for the club’s internet access;

Arne Navarra of the Philippine Life Saving Society for donating and installing two lighting facilities at the NPC building façade; former Bacolod councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. of G-BAC Gen. Merchandising and Construction for coordinating with Santuario de Bacolod for the memorial lot donation of Gonzalez and for his support to the various activities of the club;

Smart Communications for donating Smart Bro handy Wi-Fi devices, plug-ins and pre-paid cards, and for supporting the tree-planting and fellowship activities in Minoyan, Murcia, on Nov. 24; Jovelle Dalino Bacosa, president and general manager of Caloocan City; and Bacolod City-based JDBS Enterprises for donating the seed fund for the repainting of the NPC building façade;

Oliver Requilman, Human Resource head of the Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Bacolod Plant, for supporting the club’s activities, notably the two-day NPC-KBP-Coke inter-media bowling tournament in September at the Goldenfields bowling lanes, the NPC Media Night at the Planta Hotel in October, and the Christmas party Saturday.*CGS

Daigon for-a-cause in
Silay Dec. 18

“Ang Bulawanon nga Paskwa” will be held at the Sen. Jose C. Cultural and Civic Center in Silay City, Negros Occidental, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Dec. 18, by the Brotherhood for Man’s Welfare-Negros, headed by the coordinator, Marvin Bayona, its press release said.

The BMW-Negros, in partnership with 94.3 IFM Bacolod, started its children feeding program in August, headed by its founder and programs coordinator, Arven Roy Rosales, the press release said.
