Bago City bowlers edge closer to the championship in the Philippine Association of General Services Officers Inc. Bowling Sportsfest 2012 when the tournament resumes Friday at the Lopue’s East Bowling Center in Bacolod City.

The Bago City Team headed by Jocelyn Go topped the elimination round with 4,500 points.

In the top squad are Rosalie Reyes, Merlyn Herida, Aida Po, Matt Gaudite, Joe Ermeo, Julio Garnica, Rene Bustamante and Quintin Supera.

Bago registered the team’s highest triple with 1,524.

The Bacolod City Team led by Tess Robles, established the highest team single of 545 points and settled for second with 4,367.

Robles’ team will play against La Carlota City in the knock-out match in the first game 1 p.m. Friday.

The winner will challenge the top seed in the battle for the title and the top prize.

Also competing in the event but failed to make it to the finals are Silay City Team B, Silay City Team A, Victorias City, Kabankalan City/Sipalay Combined and North Cluster Team.

In the individual contest, Buena Suarez (Silay City-B) and teammate Nestor Decierto had the highest pinning in the men’s and women division with 90 and 95; teammates Tess Robles and Edson Parcon (Bacolod City) had the highest single in a separate bracket with 124 and 147 each.

Robles also top the women’s triple with 341, and Matt Gaudite (Bago City) in the men’s category with 348.

Awarding of prizes will follow after the champions are known.

Meanwhile, the Christmas Cup Open Trio Bowling Tournament will resume tonight at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.*HLG
