The Department of Interior and Local Government–Negros Occidental Provincial Office conferred the Best Performing Local Government Units awards on Binalbagan town and San Carlos City at the “Pasidungog 2012” at Nature’s Village Resort Hotel and Restaurant held in Talisay City yesterday.

Pulupandan town was first runner-up in the Best Performing Municipality category, while the cities of Bago and Sagay were first and second runners-up in the Best Performing City category, a Capitol press release said.

Special Awards were given to Pulupandan town and San Carlos City for Best in Administrative Governance; Binalbagan town and Bago City as Best in Social Services; La Castellana and San Carlos City as Best in Economic Development, it added.

Meanwhile, Moises Padilla and Bago City bagged the special award for Best in Environmental Management, while La Castellana and Kabankalan City received the Best in Local Legislation.

In his message, Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. encouraged local officials not to rest on their laurels but continue to work more and harvest more awards as he congratulated all the awardees.
