Motorcyclist
charged for illegal gun

BY RENE GENOVE

A motorcyclist was arrested by the Dumaguete City police and charged for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and drugs, in Barangay Pulang-tubig, Dumaguete, recently.

Larry Liteo Palomar, 33, of Mayaposi, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, was nabbed at around 10:30 p.m. Sunday for evading the checkpoint at corner Larena Drive and Rovira Road in Pulangtubig, Dumaguete.

When frisked, he was found with a .38 caliber snub-nosed pistol Smith and Wesson, with serial no. 42203, four live ammunition, a black holster, a white Nokia cellular phone, a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu and a disposable lighter.

The police said they were conducting a checkpoint in Pulangtubig when an Econo 70 red motorcycle without plate number stopped in the distance, and both driver and his back-rider ran to separate directions.

Policemen gave chase and saw Palomar drawing his gun but he was caught and subdued.

Meanwhile, a man, 32, reported to the police that he caught his wife and her paramour while in the act of sexual intercourse in a boarding house in Barangay Tinago, Dumaguete City, at around 9 p.m. Saturday.

The wife and the other man, both 33, were brought to the Dumaguete City Police Station for investigation.*RG
