Regional director Robert Uy of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas welcomed the formation of the Basketball Coaches Association of Negros headed by Bobby Tee of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Uy, owner of Toyota Motors in Bacolod and Panay, and guest speaker during the event thanked BCAN for recognizing his SBP leadership and congratulated some 20 local mentors who attended the induction ceremony on Wednesday at Apollo Restaurant Shopping.

Uy lauded the group and handed over to Tee an undisclosed amount as seed support to the future projects of the association.

He also expounded on the value of cooperation and told his listeners to set aside personal interest in order for BCAN to last long.

Uy said he will inform coaches of the sport in Panay to follow what has been started here in Negros.

Tee, in his welcome address, thanked Uy for his generosity which will be used for programs and activities that will benefit basketball enthusiasts and the coaches themselves.
