Monitor firecracker sale, SP asks
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A resolution requesting the City Legal Enforcement Unit and the Bacolod City Police Office through the Office of the Mayor, to strictly enforce City Ordinance 186 that prescribes special places for the retail sale of legal firecrackers and pyrotechnics, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

Authored by Councilor Roberto Rojas, the resolution said there is a need to monitor the sale and distribution of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices within the City of Bacolod, and to regulate their sale and purchase.

The guidelines for the display, sale, distribution and use of these firecrackers should be strictly implemented, as they endanger life and limb, it said.

The SP also approved a resolution encouraging all interested private realty developers to avail of the options under Ordinance No. 593, or an ordinance establishing a comprehensive, sustainable development program for shelter services and poverty alleviation of informal settlers in Bacolod City.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez, is an invitation to all realty developers to invest their 20 percent socialized housing compliance through the options available under C.O. 593 as an additional fund of the city government to be utilized for the benefit of the informal settlers in Bacolod.

The SP also approved another resolution authored by Lopez requesting the Mayor to sign the memorandum of agreement with SM Bacolod in relation to Ordinance 501, that grants free movie privileges to all qualified senior citizens of Bacolod.*CGS
