Golez: Let’s help
victims of typhoon

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez Jr. yesterday asked Bacoleños to share whatever blessings they have received from God with the victims of Typhoon Pablo this Christmas season.

In a Christmas message he issued yesterday, Golez said, “Let us offer a special prayer to our fellow Filipinos, who have not been as fortunate as us, and share with them whatever blessings our almighty God has given us.”

He said 2012 has been a great year, despite the misfortunes and tragedies that have struck millions of Filipinos in other provinces.

The country’s general economy registers a bullish trend, and if pushed with the right paradigm, will trickle down to the most marginalized sectors and groups, and bring general prosperity and better climate in the country, he said.

Golez said that for the past two years, he has poured in close to P5 billion in various infrastructures like the repair and improvement of the circumferential road, lying in centers, water system, Banago port, livelihood and educational projects, and medical assistance at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, benefiting thousands of Bacolodnons.

He said more projects are underway, all towards making Bacolod a better place for living, cultural activities and investment destination.

In the cultural sphere, he said that he has battled for preserving the main hallmarks of the city’s cultural heritage, particularly in defending the preservation of the Charter Day from attempts to bastardize it, and the beautification of the Lacson Avenue as an important gateway to the city and the Provincial Capitol as the seat of provincial political power, among others.*CGS
