P2.2 M turned over to
farmers, fisherfolk

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. led regional and local officials in the turnover of P2,262,335 in projects to People’s Organizations, Non-Government Organizations, farmers and fisherfolks during the Pambansang Mannalon, Mag-uuma, Magbabaul at Magsasaka ng Pilipinas Day celebration yesterday in Manapla, a press release from the Capitol said.

Of the total amount, P1,350,000 came from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Unit - 6 for the four-wheel tractor of the San Antonio Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association; Multi-Purpose Drying Pavementof the San Antonio Small Farmers Association and Palay Shade, one of the component of Flatbed Dryer, for the Manapla Partnership in Agriculture for Rural Transformation Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Idzenga, whose group had won worldwide recognition for developing the ram pump technology, has partnered with the Alter Trade Corporation and the Department of Science and Technology in establishing the lemon grass distiller for the NAPFWA farmers, a press release from the group said.

The Department of Health in Western Visayas warned the public to avoid buying toys that could post danger to children, a government press release said yesterday.

“Buy safe toys for kids,” DOH-6 director Susana Madarieta advised.

She asked the public to buy toys that are safe and non-toxic, durable and well-constructed.
