P2.2 M turned over to
farmers, fisherfolk

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. led regional and local officials in the turnover of P2,262,335 in projects to People’s Organizations, Non-Government Organizations, farmers and fisherfolks during the Pambansang Mannalon, Mag-uuma, Magbabaul at Magsasaka ng Pilipinas Day celebration yesterday in Manapla, a press release from the Capitol said.

Of the total amount, P1,350,000 came from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Unit - 6 for the four-wheel tractor of the San Antonio Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association; Multi-Purpose Drying Pavementof the San Antonio Small Farmers Association and Palay Shade, one of the component of Flatbed Dryer, for the Manapla Partnership in Agriculture for Rural Transformation Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

The 2nd Congressional District of Rep. Alfredo Marañon, III also turned over a P460,000 check for the bridge project to the P4MP Manapla, the press release said.

The Provincial Environment Management Office also turned over P202,335 for the Urban Greening Program; Livelihood and Rice Assistance Swap to Mangrove Reforestation to identified beneficiaries, it added.

Present during the event were Mesitlie Teruel, Officer-in-Charge of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Manapla Mayor Lourdes Socorro Escalante, Sagay City Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva, Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Igmedio Tabianan, and Executive Assistants to the Governor Angel Verdeflor and Manuel Escalante, among other local and barangay officials, the press release said.*
