Christmas concert set to help
Blessed John Paul II projects

The Catholic Church in Bacolod City is inviting everyone to watch its concert titled “Christmas in our Hearts,” that will be held at the grand ballroom of the Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel and Residences, at 6 p.m. Friday.

Proceeds of the concert will be for various projects of the Blessed John Paul II in the city, its a press release said.

Msgr. Victorino Rivas, president of the Centro Giovanni Paolo II Foundation Inc., said the concert is produced by the CGPFI for the benefit of the Blessed JPII National Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, a project in Bacolod of the blessed pope.

He said the concert is worth watching as it will feature local talents with international caliber, and will have more than 20 Christmas songs to be performed by the Colegio San Agustin—Bacolod Kalinaw Chorale, the West Negros University Big Band, and Niza Limjap, with Michael John Tambasen as musical director, Ralph Garbanzos as technical director, and Rudy Reveche as stage director, the press release said.

Tickets are pegged at P1,000, P500, and P250. For reservations, those interested may contact the Business Inn (433-8877), Planta Hotel (468-0412), Redemptorist Church (434-0976), or the Centro Giovanni Paolo II Foundation (0912-8243175).

The Institute, in consortium with the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod, has been in existence for almost 12 years already, Rivas said. “It is not merely named after the beloved pope; it is, in fact, an institute the pope himself created, and the only school he had put up, thus it can be considered one of his living legacies,” he added in the press release.

Rivas said the CGPFI was established to sustain the projects of the Institute and to ensure its valuable service to the Church in the Philippines and part of Asia, the press release added.*
