2 cops wounded in stabbing
incident in Bacolod beerhouse

Two police officers were stabbed at a beerhouse in Bacolod City at about 10:20 p.m. Monday, and a suspect has been arrested by operatives of the Bacolod City Police Station 6, Chief Insp. Noel Polines, said yesterday.

Polines identified the suspect as Ryan Lagoyo, 26, of Brgy. Mandalagan, and his victims as Police Officer 1 Ramon Christopher de la Cruz, 26, assigned at the Regional Public Safety Battalion of Pulupandan PNP, and PO1 Jay Jardeliza, 25, assigned at the EB Magalona PNP.

He said de la Cruz and Jardeliza, who sustained multiple stab wounds, were having drinks with a civilian, whom they identified as Mark Anthony Arsenal.

Arsenal went to another table and sat down beside a woman. Moments later, a man who was identified as Lagoyo and the woman’s boyfriend arrived in the area and the commotion started, he added.

Polines said de la Cruz saw Lagoyo arrived and noticed something protruding from his waistband. De la Cruz talked to Lagoyo who immediately stabbed him.

Jardeliza, who identified himself as a police officer and showed his ID to Lagoyo, also tried to stop the suspect but two other persons arrived and everything went chaotic, Polines said.

However, Lagoyo claimed he was there because his brother invited him and when he arrived, the police officers asked him some questions and started to beat him.

“I hit back and my brother and cousin also helped me, but I was not carrying any bladed weapon,” Lagoyo said.

He claimed that the 18-inch bladed weapon recovered from him was not his. He said he just got it from the beerhouse and that he did not even know if he had stabbed someone because it was too dark in the place.

Polines also identified two other persons who were with the suspect as Kert Lagoyo, his brother, and Argie Ciocon, their cousin, now both at large.

Meanwhile, a frustrated homicide charge was filed yesterday at about 2 p.m. at the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office against Ryan Lagoyo and the police also plan to file direct assault upon an agent or person in authority against him, Polines added.*LTG

Police nab two
in buy-busts

A minor and a suspected drug pusher in Bacolod City were arrested in buy-bust operations conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Monday.

PDEA regional director Ronnie Delicana yesterday said the minor, whose name they withheld, was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. at her residence in Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2. He identified the suspected pusher as Joel Centino of Purok 42, Bayanihan, Brgy. Villamonte.

They recovered from the minor the sachet of shabu used in their operation, 23 other sachets, and the P500 in marked money, Delicana said.

He said they recovered from Centino, who was arrested at about 7:50 p.m. at his residence, three elongated plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a small sachet used in their buy-bust operation, an additional sachet of the banned substance, and P500 in marked money.

Delicana also said they will file charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, against the suspects, including the 17-year-old, but will observe the provisions of RA 9344, or the Juvenile Justice System of the country.*LTG
