Class ’74 tops bowlfest

Class ’74 was champion in the premiere division, and Batch ‘2000-up and Class ’95 in the Negros Occidental High School Alumni Association Inc. President’s Cup Christmas Bowling Tournament at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

The Class ’74 team headed by Romel Jover, is composed of Alex Bollon, Joy Pastoral, Antonia Yusay, Bobby Tejada, Victor Amacio, Rudy Pasaporte and Boy Romero bulldozed the twice-to-beat Class ’82 led by Cesar Sumaylo in the deciding contest, 529-522, to win the Class A crown and the top prize.

Jover’s group earlier beat Batch ’84 led by Ruby Barbosa in the semi-final, 519-509, while the latter defeated C’66 in the quarterfinals.

Batch 2000-Up also won over twice-to-beat C’70 of Bonnie Ta-ala and Vita De Paula in the final round in bracket B, 539-533.

The members of the Class B champion were Rommel Galvan, Peter John “Boy” Biasca, Raymund Galvan, Ronielo Galvan, Jr., Madz Dayap, Ayeng Justine Ko and Christopher Catubig.

Class ’71 headed by Leah Uy was second runner-up over C’68 led by Cero Cordova in the quarterfinals, 511-505.

In the Class C category, top qualifier Batch ’95 won over C’88 in the championship, 501-499.

Seeded No.3 C’88 took challenged the champion by defeating C’99 and B’91 in the quarterfinals and semi-final matches.

The C’95 were Essho Garcia, Stephen Dormido, Yenz Gepana, Marjoe Jiz, Effie Macasa Lim, Daisy “Luv” Alolod, Cherryl Bacay, Miloy Garce, Arnel Gasataya, Bonnie Bolontong and Toto Flores.

Consolation prize winners were Golden Team (Class A), Mavericks ’67 (Bracket B), and Batch ’96 (Bracket C).

The individual awardees were Ed Jara (Golden) and Leda Exito (C’65) in highest pinning with 95 and 90 apiece; Felipe Boy Romero (C’74), and Ronela Cordero (C’89) in single, and Romero and Ruby Barbosa (C’84) in triple with 390 and 348, respectively.

Class ’82 had the tournament’s highest single and triple at 570 and 1,566 pinfalls.*HLG
