Diesto, Ison win 3rd
golds in athletics
After topping the secondary girls’ triple jump in the morning, Mary Anthony Diesto of Bacolod Tay Tung High School went on to win the gold in 100-meter dash in the afternoon to collect her third gold in the 2012 Palarong Panlalawigan (Provincial Meet) at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium yesterday.
Also earning his third gold medal in the meet was Jhonly Ison of Area VII, who dominated the secondary boys’ triple jump and 400m hurdles.
It was a close race for Diesto, teammate Sheila Hernandez, and Erma Rose Gamao of Area I, in the 100 meters as they finished the race a fraction of a second ahead of each other. Diesto registered 12.37 seconds, Hernandez timed in at 12.59 and Gamao, 12.69 seconds.
| Class ’74 tops bowlfest Class ’74 was champion in the premiere division, and Batch ‘2000-up and Class ’95 in the Negros Occidental High School Alumni Association Inc. President’s Cup Christmas Bowling Tournament at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City. The Class ’74 team headed by Romel Jover, is composed of Alex Bollon, Joy Pastoral, Antonia Yusay, Bobby Tejada, Victor Amacio, Rudy Pasaporte and Boy Romero bulldozed the twice-to-beat Class ’82 led by Cesar Sumaylo in the deciding contest, 529-522, to win the Class A crown and the top prize. Jover’s group earlier beat Batch ’84 led by Ruby Barbosa in the semi-final, 519-509, while the latter defeated C’66 in the quarterfinals. |
