SP wants special job fair
for persons with disabilities

A resolution requesting the Public Employment Services Office through Mayor Evelio Leonardia and the Department of Labor and Employment to conduct a special job fair for persons with disabilities, was approved yesterday by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlugsod.

Authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito and co-authored by Councilor Em Ang, the resolution said that in Bacolod City, there are many talented and skilled PWDs who are still unemployed and who support themselves either by selling goods or by doing simple jobs.

Since the enactment of the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, many PWDs have already been given the opportunity to work and to live without fear or discrimination and humiliation, it said adding that it is very important that the government provides programs and projects for the development of PWDs, such as job fairs, to help them enhance their capabilities and skills and to get employed to be able support their needs.

Most job fairs are being conducted for persons from all sectors which is stressful for PWDs and it would be better if a similar project is conducted solely for them, it added.*CGS
