Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. distributed P7 million in checks to eight barangays in Hinigaran and 13 in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, yesterday.
The recipient barangays in Hinigaran were Bato, Gargato, Miranda, Narauis, Nanunga, Zone II, Zone III, and Zone IV (Poblacion), a Capitol press release said.
Each received P250,000 for projects such as construction of Day Care center, purchase of multi-purpose vehicles, rehabilitation of stage and multi-purpose hall, construction of basketball court, rehabilitation of barangay health center, and construction of rip-rapped drainage canal, it said.
A check for P500,000 was also given to Hinigaran town for the construction of male and female comfort rooms and P650,000 for the Liga ng mga Barangay for various development projects, the press release said.
In Binalbagan, recipient barangays were Amontay, Bagroy, Biao, Enclaro, Marina, Progreso, San Jose, San Pedro, San Vicente, San Teodoro, Santol and Sto. Rosario.
Each barangay received P250,000 for various projects, such as the rehabilitation of health care centers and procurement of medicines, construction of CHB Canals and riprap, purchase and repair of service vehicles, rehab of drainage systems and solid waste management projects, it added. Brgy. Payao received P550,000 for the purchase of service vehicle for its solid waste management program, the press release said.
The town also received P300,000 for the rehabilitation of barangay health centers in Sto. Ubay and Brgy. Progreso Proper.
Marañon urged the recipient to make good use of the projects entrusted to them.* back
