Guv gives insurance benefits
Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. yesterday distributed P362,500 in checks representing the insurance benefits of barangay tanods in the province.
The checks were given to the families of the tanods at the Governor’s Office.
In the Third District, Susana Malaga of Brgy. Zone 3, Talisay City received P50,000; Sherlita Herdon of Brgy. V, Silay City received - P50,000; Jessica Magbanua of Brgy. Abo-abo, Murcia - P50,000; and Myrna Salanatin of Brgy. Canlusong, E.B. Magalona - P12,500.
In the Fourth District, Glorieta Octiva of Brgy. Bayabas, Valladolid received P50,000 while the four children of tanod Norberto Estares of Brgy. Tabao Rizal, San Enrique received P12,500 each.
In Fifth District, Carmen Asuncion of Brgy. Banog-banog, Isabela received P50,000 and in the Sixth District, Jogie Aurita of Brgy. Nabulao, Sipalay City got P50,000.
Marañon expressed his condolences to the families of the tanods and advised them to make good use of the insurance benefits they received, the press release said.*

PNAANY chapter holds
Balik-Turo Program
The Philippine Nurses Association in America-New York Chapter will hold a Balik- Turo lecture program on the recent trends in nursing education and practice at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium in Silliman University, Dumaguete City, today.
Highlighting the event is the talk by Dr. Joyce Fitzpatrick on “Nursing Leadership”, a press release from organizers said.
Fitzpatrick is an Elizabeth Brooks Ford professor of nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She is a member of the American National League of Nursing and serves as the editor of its official publication Nursing Education Perspectives and two other nursing journals: Applied Nursing Research and Archives of Psychiatric Nursing.
Sillimanian healthcare professionals and PNAA members will lecture on “Electronic Medical Record Nursing Informatics”, “Core Measures for Philippines”, “Women and Acute Myocardial Infraction (AMI)” and “AMI Post- Operative Pain Management”.
The program themed “Enhancing One’s Nursing Practice Through the Lens of the Experts,” is co-sponsored by 2007 Outstanding Sillimanian for Entrepreneurship Olivia Yanson, a member of the Silliman University College of Nursing Alumni Association (1956), that organized the program with the College of Nursing, the press release said.*
