NPA attacked us,
farmers claim

Farmers of Hacienda Valdevia in Brgy. Lopez Jaena, Sagay City, yesterday claimed that members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade attacked them and destroyed their houses on Friday.

At a press conference at the Negros Press Club in Bacolod City, brothers Jobert and Edgar Abellas claimed that Larry Chavez, alias Remar, and five other persons fired at them and destroyed 25 houses, and burned seven of them.

Jobert also claimed the RPA-ABB were goons hired by their overseer made them to leave Hacienda Valdevia.

Abellas also claimed that the alleged goons took their crops and immediately posted the sign "private property" after their houses were destroyed.

He added that they were threatened that they will be killed if they did not vacate the place so they camped out, at a nearby place.

 Karapatan-Negros secretary general Fred Cana also reacted to a statement earlier made by Chief Insp. Gabriel Gutierrez that there was no strafing incident  Friday.

He claimed that he spoke to Gutierrez through Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental.

Karapatan along with Bayan-Negros were on a fact finding mission, Thursday and Friday, on the alleged demolition of houses in Hacienda Valdevia when the strafing allegedly occurred.
