Cops facing difficulty
in locating 2 fugitives

The Philippine National Police in Negros Occidental continues to feel difficulty in hunting down the two most-wanted fugitives, Noel Ayalin and Romeo Corbo, who are accused of multiple murder charges, in connection with two massacre incidents in the cities of Silay and Sagay, last year. Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director, said that while the manhunt operations against Ayalin and Corbo are being conducted without letup, he believes that the two massacre suspects are already out of the province.

Ayalin, former barangay chairman of Kapitan Ramon in Silay City, was denied bail by Silay Regional Trial Court Judge Felipe Banzon, for four counts of murder and three counts of frustrated murder, in connection with the deaths of four barangay officials and the injuries of three others, in March last year.

Corbo, a former deputized agent of the Land Transportation Office, also faces three counts of murder and frustrated murder, in relation to the massacre of three relatives of broadcaster Ferdinand Yngson, July last year in Sagay City.

Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr. has earmarked P500,000 as bounty for the arrest of Ayalin, while the family of the massacre victims pledged a P200,000 reward for the apprehension of Corbo.

Ayalin and Corbo rank number one and two, respectively, in the 10 most-wanted persons of the PNP in Negros Occidental.

Guisihan admitted that they cannot sustain the all-out manhunt operations against Ayalin and Corbo outside Negros Occidental, as it entails a lot of financial requirements.

He, however, said they have already issued a flash alarm to other police units outside the province, to help them in the arrest of Ayalin and Corbo.

Guisihan also said the court has not yet issued an arrest warrant against the suspects behind the assassination of freelance broadcaster Niel Jimena, who was gunned down August last year in EB Magalona.

He said their manhunt operations against the two independent armed groups linked to the series of killings, and an incident of abduction in Brgy. Canlusong, EB Magalona, are still ongoing. *GPB

Teenager nabbed for theft

A teenager was arrested for allegedly taking the cellular phone of a fellow passenger at about 10:45 a.m. yesterday at the Capitol Shopping Center in Bacolod City but his companion evaded arrest.

Police identified the one arrested as Mark Anthony Gregorio, 19, of Brgy. 16, Bacolod City.

Gregorio, who is now detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 2, said it was his neighbor, an “alias Boyboy Agravante”, who took the cellular phone.

Complainant Jimmy Alic, 43, employed by the Uniwide Pest Control Incorporated in Bacolod City told the police that Gregorio and Agravante alighted from the jeepney when it reached the area of the Old Ceres Terminal.

After the two alighted, Alic said he noticed his cellular phone valued at P17,800, that was kept in his pocket, gone, and this prompted him to seek help from traffic enforcer Rodney Lumogda, who helped him in chasing the two.

However, after the brief chase, only Gregorio was arrested while Agravante evaded arrest, he said.*Leony May Ruiz

Lift morale of
station: de la Paz

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz yesterday challenged Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, the new station commander of Police Station 2, to lift the morale of the station and boost its criminality drive.

Police Station 2 is the back-to-back recipient of “kalabasa (squash) award” for poor performance during the 3rd and 4th quarter evaluation ratings last year.

Dejucos, former station 10 commander, said that to do this, he will need to implement some changes in the management of police station 2. He added that he will boost police visibility in the areas under his jurisdication.

Dejucos assumed his post yesterday from Senior Insp. Lester Leada, who was re-assigned as head of the operations branch, in a turnover administered by De la Paz.

De la Paz also administered the installation of Senior Insp. Terrence Paul Sta. Ana, Chief Inspectors Noel Polines and Placido Gentoleo as the new station commanders of Police Stations 10, 6 and 9, respectively.

He also commended the previous commanders of these stations for their accomplishments, improvements, and initiatives in the anti-criminality drive.

De la Paz also ordered the new station commanders to contain motorcycle-riding-in tandem criminals, and focus on the reduction of crime incidents in their areas.

The newly installed station commanders will be evaluated and their fates will depend on their performance, he said.*APN

Bacolod police gets
new patrol vehicle

The Bacolod City Police received a brand new patrol vehicle from Camp Crame that is expected to boost its anti-criminality drive, City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said yesterday.

De la Paz said the Toyota Innova and the four Mitsubishi vehicles given by the Bacolod City government, that are expected to be delivered in 20 days, will be distributed to the police stations with no patrol cars.

Records of BCPO show that Police Stations 2, 4, 5 and 6
have no patrol cars.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia wrote Philippine National Police Director Nicanor Bartolome last year and asked for another patrol vehicle that the BCPO could use since the PNP’s last vehicle donation was in 2007 yet.

De la Paz said they will ask for five more vehicles to be distributed to five other police stations since most of them vehicles are already dilapidated.

He also said the new four Mitsubishi vehicles purchased by the Bacolod City government have built-in prison cells and have good engine capacity.*APN
