The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental yesterday approved three memorandums and contract agreements for P625.8 million worth of infrastructure projects in the province, and also authorized for Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr. to sign the agreements, in behalf of the provincial government.

On motion of Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the SP committee on Finance, the SP approved a contract agreement between the province of Negros Occidental and EM Cuerpo Inc. Dynamic Builders and Construction Co. (Phil) Inc. joint venture relative to the construction of the 3-storey Negros First Cyber Center at Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City.

The amount of P449,873,520.20 was earmarked for the construction

of the cyber center.

A memorandum of agreement to be entered into by and between the province and the National Irrigation Administration was also approved by the SP during its regular session yesterday, relative the implementation of infra-irrigation projects in Negros Occidental through a counterparting scheme in the amount of P166 million.

Board Member Miller Serondo, chairperson of the SP committee on Agriculture, said the provincial government will provide a counterpart of P76 million, while NIA is providing P90 million, for the construction of irrigation projects

The SP also approved the endorsement of Maranon who requested for the ratification of MOA entered into by and between the provincial government and Sagay City, relative to the loan assistance of P10 million for the construction of Tripple A Slaughterhouse (Refrigeration Phase 3), which will be taken from the supplemental budget number 8 of the province.

However, the SP held in abeyance the approval for the passage of the pro-forma resolution relative to the loan contract with the Philippine National Bank of P40 million, for the construction of a 2-storey 24-classroom building at the Negros Occidental High School in Bacolod City, pending clarification of some matters.* GPB
