TESDA, Talisay tie-up
for training, job scheme

The Technical Education Skills Development Authority and the Talisay City government will launch the SamahangSpeyalistaTechnoprenuership Program in House Repair and Maintenance Services on February 6-11, a TESDA press release said.

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement and turnover of tool its by TESDA and the official opening of the contact center is on February 6.

The project aims to assist the initial group of 10 TESDA-certified graduates in Plumbing NC II, Carpentry NC II and Electrical Maintenance and Installation NC II to form a group and start their self-employment enterprise.

“They will service the needs of Talisaynon and nearby towns for House Repair and Maintenance. But I will also promote them with my friends and network”, Talisay Mayor Eric Saratan, said. The TESDA Negros Provincial Office will provide the beneficiaries with additional training on entrepreneurship, marketing, values formation, IT skills and teamwork.

TESDA will also provide each of them with basic tool kits to start their service jobs. The tools will be collectively managed by the group at the Contact Center, Dir. Lorena Yunque of TESDA Negros Occidental said.

TESDA has also designated a project coordinator to assist the group in developing their entrepreneurial capability, the press release said.

Other grouping will be formed by TESDA in collaboration with the provincial and city governments and Technical/Vocational institutions in Negros Occidental, within the year for the agencys certified graduates, it added.*
