Absence of tourism
road map hit

Rep. Pryde Henry Teves (Neg. Or. 3rd District) expressed disappointment and frustration over the absence of a tourism road map, that   could be the basis for a bigger budget appropriation for tourism development for the province this year.

At  a recent meeting  with the Negros Divers Association, Teves dared provincial tourism officer Myla Mae Bromo-Abellana to push the provincial government to submit at the earliest possible time, the provincial tourism road map before the national government shall have approved this year’s national executive budget.

He said he brought some representatives from the National Economic Development Authority  to Negros Oriental last October to meet with local officials,  to help the province draft its provincial tourism road map.

It was agreed upon that a Technical Working Group would be created but Teves said  Bromo-Abellana informed him  Friday that Gov.  Roel Degamo had disapproved the creation of the Technical Working Group.

He said time is running out, considering that in the first quarter of this year, national officials already prepare  the national budget which should be out after March.

“They should give it to me by February 15 at the latest,” he said.*JFP
