GMA Network's longest running and trusted showbiz authority STARTALK continues to be unbeatable for the past 16 years.

Headed by the reputable showbiz authorities - Lolit Solis, Butch Francisco, Joey de Leon and Ricky Lo - Startalk ruled and is set to rule over its rival programs every Saturday afternoon.

To carry on the celebration for reigning supreme, STARTALK presents a star-studded and full-packed episode this Saturday.

Adding spice to the episode are back-to-back live appearances from Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Survivor Host Richard Gutierrez.

Nailed to the hot seats are the cast of GMA's newest offerings Alice Bungisngis (Bea Binene, Jake Vargas, Derrick Monasterio and Lexi Fernandez with Sef Cadayona, Sheena Halili and Benjie Paras) and Broken Vow (Bianca King, Rochelle Pangilinan, Gabby Eigenmann and Luis Alandy).

iBILIB debuts strongly

iBILIB host Chris Tiu together with his wacky gang, Isabel Oli and Moymoy Palaboy, finds out how the impossible becomes possible through mundane things in the next episode of “iBILIB, The Wonders of Horus” on GMA-7, a press release from the network said.

The gang of curious myth busters figures out how goose feathers can double as an instant water-proof net and stop a person from getting wet in a tank of water. They will also play around with an elliptical billiard table and discover why it always guarantees a sure shot.

But the biggest challenge of the night is whether they can walk on water. Will they pull off this experiment successfully or will they find themselves in deep, murky trouble? Find out the secret ingredient to this seemingly impossible feat.

Meanwhile, iBILIB debuted strongly with a solid 28.9 percent household share last Sunday while it’s competitor in the rival station trailed behind with only 23.9 percent, the press release said.

More exciting and unbelievable trivia will be uncovered in “iBILIB, The Wonders of Horus”, this Sunday night on GMA-7, after Kap’s Amazing Stories, it said.*

15 schools join hip-hop tilt

Fifteen high schools will join the hip hop high dance competition season 5 at the university gymnasium of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City at 4:30 p.m. today, a UNO-R press release said.

The schools are: Caduha-an National High School (Cadiz); Madeleine Academy (Hinigaran); Alangilan National High School; Luis Hervias National High School (Bacolod); Luisa Medel National High School (Bacolod); Our Lady of Purity Academy Inc. (San Enrique);

Emiliano Lizares National High School (Granada); Mandalagan National High School (Bacolod); Our Lady of Pillar Academy B.I.(Ma-ao, Bago City); Negros Occidental National High School; Mansilingan Agro Industrial High School; Bata National High School; Valladolid National High School; Pax Catholic Academy (La Carlota City); and Sum-ag National High School.

The Executive Committee Coordinator of the project is Fr. Dexter Palagtiosa, and over-all chair is Joselina Basa.

This was conceptualized by Fr. Antonio Limchaypo and Agnes Lira–Jundos in 2007, the press release said.

Meanwhile, Fr. Cornelio Moral, UNO-R Vice president for Religious Affairs and Director of Religious Education, left for Colombia recently to attend the international meeting of the Commission on the Revitalization and Restructuring of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, the press release said.

The meeting was held at El Desierto de la Candelaria and was presided over by Most Rev. Fr. Miguel Miro, Prior General of the Order, the press release added.*

Biriteria takes center
stage February 6

GMA-7 sets the stage for another original and groundbreaking offering as it launches its newest primetime creation, Biritera, on February 6 that combines music with drama and tackles the highs and lows in the colorful world of the industry.

In the show, lead stars Dennis Trillo and Glaiza de Castro get to showcase not just their acting abilities, and talents in singing as they assume the roles of Andrei, the lead vocalist of the band called The Bridge, and Mikaela, a drummer/singer, respectively.

Biritera also proudly introduces GMA-7’s newest child discovery, Roseanne, who plays the role of an aspiring young singer of the same name.

The story takes off from the death of the reigning biritera, which sends Mr. D (Ryan Eigenmann), a respected talent manager, into a frantic search for an immediate replacement.

Adding depth and excitement to the story are Angelika dela Cruz as Remy, Roseanne’s loving adoptive mother; Rich Asuncion as Jo, Roseanne’s manipulative aunt; Ryan Eigenmann as Mr. D, Andrei and Roseanne’s talent manager; Ces Quesada as Simang, Remy’s aunt; Neil Ryan Sese as Eric, a rich businessman; Gwen Zamora as Iris, Andrei’s number one fan who will eventually fall in love with him; Yul Servo as Jo’s boyfriend Jerome; and in a very special role, Claudine Barretto.

Completing the cast are Kiel Rodriguez as Miko, bass player of the band, The Bridge; Ken Chan as the lead guitarist Popoy; Orlando Sol as the keyboardist Egay; Sweet Ramos as Barbie, Roseanne’s fiercest rival; Protege’s Nomer Limatog, Jr. as Miguelito and Jamaika Olivarez as Kleng Kleng, Roseanne and Barbie’s co-members in the church choir; Kim Komatsu as Gwen, the choir master; Hiro Magalona as Teofi, the organ player at the church; Barbara Miguel as Darling, a child actress managed by Mr. D.; Scarlet as Mrs. Tomandong, Barbie’s mother; Patricia Ysmael as Beverly, and Myra Carel as Bevs, Mr. D’s office staff.
