With Marc Lo finding his range early in the game and tallying 21 points, 888 Chinatown Square beat Nena's Rose I, 76-70, to register its second win in Class B of the 12th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup, Wednesday night at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

In the other game, Sta. Fe Resort stamped its class over Alfie’s Construction, 84-67, to get its bid for the crown going.

Teaming up with Ralph Richard Tan in the first quarter, the duo combined for five triples to give 888 Chinatown a 22-16 opening quarter lead, negating Yan Yan Dy’s 12 points for Nena's Rose I.

Sharp paces Top’s bowlfest

Sharp Phils. took the opening salvo in Class A division while Electronz and Davies Fusion I also led in their group in the Open Trio Bowling Tournament organized by the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

Anchored by Irne Diaz, Sharp is on top in Class A with 2,074 pinfalls, while ESD Electronz of Pat Mendoza led the non-rated category with 2,014, and Vilma Robles DFI the women’s bracket with 2,005.

Other competitors in Class A are Kami Mga Hubin I with 2,031; Amor ESD/ASSFBI, 1,997; Metro Sales, 1,988; NPBC TNT/Tough Trucks II, 1,966; NPBC RJ Stars/TNT, 1,956; Mulo Car Aircon Services I, 1,946; Silverado, 1,938; Davies B, 1,935; Davies R, 1,923; NPBC TNT/Tough Trucks I, 1,907, and Mulo Car Aircon II, 1,842.

Iloilo City to host
SCUAA nat’l meet

The State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association national games will be held at the Iloilo Sports Complex in La Paz district on February 19 to 25.

In a meeting with SCUAA officials, Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr.  agreed to lend the sports complex venue free of charge.

Defensor met with Dr. Benny Palma, president of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges, who said that 16 regions will  join the competition among the top athletes from SCUAA-member schools.
