MKNP gets new chief

Cecil Cañada was designated as Park Superintendent of the Mount Kanlaon Natural Park, through a Regional Special Order No. 2012-06, signed by Regional Executive Director Julian Amador, a press release from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office said..

Cañada was the Environment Management Specialist of the Environment Management Bureau in Negros Occidental for 10 years. He was also assigned to CENRO Kabankalan as Engineering Aide of the Land Management Services, and was the Ecosystem Management Specialist of the MKNP for six, the press release added.*

Vigan officials learn
‘best practices’

About 80 officials of the Vigan City arrived in Bacolod yesterday to learn from the best practices of the cities of Bacolod, Silay and Victorias, in Negros Occidental.

The delegation is led by Vigan Mayor Eva Marie Medina and Vice Mayor Lourdes Baquiran, former Mayor Ferdinand Medina and members of the city council Janina Carine Farinas, Audie Agdamag, Hermenigildo Apelin, George Villanueva, Benedicto Jose Verzosa, Loreto Quibilan, Joana Cara Medina, Francisco Arturo Ranches, John Patrick Singson, and Stephen Andre de Leon.

Barangay captains, Department Heads are also present, a Bacolod City Hall press release said.

The group will be in the province until Feb. 5.

While in Bacolod, the delegation will be treated to the city’s tourist attractions, which include the Luzuriaga Cemetery of Guiness World Record fame, the Bacolod Public Plaza, San Sebastian Cathedral, the Pope John Paul II tower, the Merci Pasalubong Center, the Negros Museum, and Negros Showroom. The visitors will also be given a chance to take pictures at the Capitol Lagoon and building, and to have lunch at Aboy’s.

Later in the afternoon, the visitors will be given a tour of the Bacolod Government Center when they pay a courtesy call on Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, after which the mayor will host a dinner for them, the press release said.

In her letter to Leonardia, Medina said, “ We look forward to meeting you and your City Government family, who have earned for Bacolod the reputation of being the most business-friendly city, as well as “one of the most livable cities” in the Philippines”, the press release added.*

MBA marketing gab slated

The Recoletos de Bacolod MBA Association Inc. or the UNO-R Graduate School will hold its 3rd MBA Symposium at Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel 6 p.m. February 16.

To speak on Marketing Distribution and Channels of the Future are Manuel Parroco, president of IMC–Island Merchants Corp. and also of Negros Sales and Distributors Association Inc., who had various corporate assignments as expatriate with Nestle in Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore as well as Nestle Switzerland, a press release from Darwin Destacamento said.

The MBA Symposium is a semestral activity of the Recoletos de Bacolod MBA Association Inc. Key leaders of the Bacolod corporate entities are invited to speak before the students and Recoletos de Bacolod graduate School alumni.

Fr. Joel Alve, Dean of RBGS and UNO-R Vice President for Academics, will open the symposium.

The event Symposium is organized principally by Kathy Chua, an RBGS and ABE International Business College faculty, together with Destacamento, president of Recoletos de Bacolod MBA Association Inc., the press release said.
