Murder raps filed
vs. alleged addict

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor’s Office filed Wednesday murder charges against an alleged drug addict who beheaded a 6-year-old boy and gouged out his eyeballs in Binalbagan town.

Provincial Prosecutor Elmira Maglasang found probable cause for filing the murder charges against Lyndon Monton, 31, of Sitio Barangay, Barangay Enclaro in Binalbagan, town police chief, Senior Insp. Albert Sy said.

Monton has been transferred to the Binalbagan Bureau of Jail Management and Penology as he was denied bail, Sy said.

Monton was arrested Sunday, minutes after he allegedly killed his neighbor MJ Aguirre, and left his mutilated body in the middle of the sugarcane field in Hacienda Pula in Brgy. San Pedro Binalbagan.

The suspect, who had reportedly been confined at the Paglaum Drug Rehabilitation Center in Bacolod City, denied the accusations.

Aguirre’s 8-year-old playmate, whose name the police withheld, told the police that Monton asked them to go with him as he is going to give them something, but forced his friend into the sugarcane field.

He said that minutes later, he heard his friend’s loud cry and scream and this prompted him to run and seek help.*APN
