The country’s five major carriers’ seat capacity jumped 16.07 percent to 24.34 million from 20.97 million in 2010.

Farmers start march today
for more land distribution

Members of Task Force Mapalad from 330 organized haciendas in 19 municipalities in Negros Occidental are joining its nationwide Lakbayan campaign starting from Cadiz City and La Castellana town today, a press release from TFM said.

The groups from the north and south of Negros will converge in Bacolod City at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon on Wednesday to stage rally urging President Benigno Aquino III to complete and not to terminate the agrarian reform program, while its representatives in Manila will start their campaign on Friday.

TFM President Alberto Jayme said in a press statement sent to the DAILY STAR, that “Aquino should break his silence on agrarian reform and make a bold move for the completion of the program in view of the disheartening performance of the Department of Agrarian Reform under Sec. Gil delos Reyes.”

Sugar farm workers
criticize DAR-Murcia

The National Federation of Sugar Workers criticized the Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer of Murcia for his lack of knowledge about a property covered by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program in Brgy. Sta. Rosa, Murcia.

Ranie Lava, NFSW president, yesterday said they were disappointed at the result of their dialog last week with the 19 farmer-beneficiaries of Hacienda Guanzon and Murcia MARO Edwin Sanchez.

Lava claimed that Sanchez only answered their queries with excuses and confusing statements, on the demands of the farmer-beneficiaries and sounded like a representative of the landowner.
