Septuagenarian man in
road accident dies

A septuagenarian man died in a hospital minutes after he was sideswiped by a Suzuki carry vehicle at the Araneta highway in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, Friday.

Police identified the victim as Felipe Alavado, 74, of Purok 6 in Brgy. Tangub.

Investigation conducted by traffic investigator Police Officer 2 Wilson Go showed that Alavado was crossing the street at about 3 a.m., the accident happened.

Alavado was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, where he died while being treated.

TMU head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, could not be reached for a follow-up on the case as of press time yesterday.

The driver of the vehicle identified as Jennelyn Tenorio, 35, of Brgy. Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental has reportedly been released from Police Station 8, after she and the family of the victim agreed on a settlement.

TMU reminded the public once again to use the pedestrian lanes in crossing the streets to avoid accidents.*APN

2 injured in
stabbing: police

Two men were injured in stabbing incidents in Bacolod City Friday and Saturday, the police said.

Carmelo Lasaga, 26, of Zone 1, Purok Greenfield in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod sustained two stab wounds when his neighbor allegedly stabbed him over an old grudge near his residence at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Lasaga was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

The suspect, identified as Rey Santa Ana, 38, was apprehended by Station 8 policemen minutes after the incident.

Station 8 chief, Senior Insp. Jerick Filosofo said they are preparing the charges against Santa Ana.

In Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, Esteban Tapanao, 38, of Galo-Gasataya Streets in Brgy. 20, was also hospitalized when he was stabbed in the buttocks by Raffy dela Torre, 30, of Gonzaga-Standard Streets in Brgy. 26 at about 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Dela Torre was apprehended minutes after the stabbing by Police Officers 3 Jun Regalado and Ronald Villeran.*APN
