CEB: Larger planes to Bacolod,
direct Kalibo-HK  flights set, too

Cebu Pacific announced yesterday its new Kalibo-HongKong-Kalibo service that will greatly increase the options for passengers in Western Visayas, and its use of larger aircrafts flying to   the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

Michelle Eve de Guzman, Cebu Pacific Corporate Communications specialist, said  at a press conference in Bacolod yesterday that the airline  will increase seat capacity further from Cebu to Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo and General Santos starting tomorrow.

The airline is also set to launch long-haul flights by the third quarter of 2013, with an eye on routes to cities where there are significant Filipino communities, she also said.

Farm workers march
on for full land distribution

About 1,000 members of Task Force Mapalad joined the first day yesterday of the nationwide lakbayan campaign in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental calling on President Benigno Aquino III to fast track land distribution under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms.

The march, which also started partly in Cadiz City and La Castellana town and will converge in Bacolod City tomorrow.

Lanie Factor, TFM assistant deputy coordinator said Aquino is slacking and has a very low performance in land distribution and support services to farmer-beneficiaries.

SSS condonation
scheme up

Social Security System members with overdue loans can settle their unpaid obligations without paying the full amount of penalties under a new amnesty program of the SSS starting April 2.

Ma. Luz Generoso, head of the SSS Lending and Asset Management Division, yesterday said qualified applicants whose loan delinquency was not their fault, such as non-remittance of payment by employers, may avail of 100 percent condonation of penalty.

Beneficiaries of deceased borrowers can also avail of the 100 percent condonation should they file their death claim within the availment period of the amnesty on loan penalties, Generoso said.
