Anti-Corona group set
to hold ‘mass for truth’

The Negrenses for Corona Removal will hold a “Mass for Truth and Justice” at the University of St. La Salle Chapel, Bacolod City, 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, Edwin Balajadia, N4CR convenor, said yesterday.

The N4CR is inviting all concerned citizens and organized groups and sectors who are advocating for good, honest, and accountable governance to attend and stand up for the cause of truth and justice in the country, he said in a press release.

The N4CR was formed by various local civil society groups, progressive political formations, and personalities who support President Aquino’s “Matuwid na Dann” flagship program of governance.

The press release also said “Chief Justice Corona lied, and lied blatantly, when under oath he intentionally under-valued the properties that he purchased while an officer in government…”

The group maintains that CJ’s flagrant dishonesty and enrichment in office by acquiring many assets amounting to millions of pesos, that were far beyond the reach of his public earnings uncovered during the impeachment trial, demeans the vested integrity of his Public Office, degrades the very essence of public accountability, and thus, manifests betrayal of public trust. This alone shows his apparent unfitness to remain as chief justice, the press release also said.

The N4CR also said that Corona’s midnight appointment as chief justice, and his continuing presence at the helm of the highest court of the land as well as his unrelenting loyalty and partiality to the Arroyos, remain among the biggest stumbling blocks towards the promotion of good governance, truth, justice and accountability in the country, the press release added.*
