NTU Tigers win gold medals
in nat’l taekwondo tournament

Two Negros Taekwondo Union Tigers brought home the gold from the Smart Carlos Palanca Jr. National Memorial Taekwondo Championship held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Metro Manila.

NTU mentor and head coach Jim Jim Chua said Irene Therese Bermejo of Trinity Christian School won the gold in the pin weight division (42 kgs. below), wile Camille Miraflores of St. Scholastica’s Academy topped the grade school girls advanced category (128-136 cm.).

Bermejo captured the gold by outclassing the current junior national team player and ASEAN Taekwondo gold medalist Inna Dionisio in the final showdown, Chua said.

Tangub beats Massebah in
Inter-Church cagefest

Tangub Missionary Baptist Church beat Massebah Christian Church, 90-74, to avenge its opening day loss in the hands of River of Life International Ministries as action continues in the 1st Inter-Church Basketball League at Villamonte Gym.

With former National Basketball Association draftee Kurtis Goodwin in the lineup, TMBC streaked past Massebah to register its first victory in the tournament.

Joining the team from Tangub in the win column is the Grace Bible Church after defeating Church of the Nazarene, 84-42, and Ikthus East, which beat Bacolod Promise Land of Barangay Villamonte, 85-81.
