Guv leads Manapla
groundbreaking rites

Government employees will soon avail of the 210-unit low-cost housing project of the Provincial Housing Program of Negros Occidental in coordination with the Pag-IBIG Home Development Mutual Fund, through the Pabahay Program of Vice President Jejomar Binay in Brgy. Purisima, Manapla.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. yesterday ledthe groundbreakingof the three-hectare St. Joseph the Worker Village located in Brgy. Purisima, Manapla, that was also attended by Mayor Ma. Lourdes Escalante, Board Members Miller Serondo and Salvador Escalante.

Wilmer Lirazan, Pag-IBIG Asst. Manager for Operation who is a representative of the Pabahay Program under the Office of the President, Sagay City Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva and former Manapla Mayor Manolet Escalante Jr.

Escalante said the municipality of Manapla purchased the 3-hectare housing site at P1.5 million, and put up a P1 million counterpart fund, as a requirement of Pag-IBIG for the construction of the road network.

Maranon said Manapla is the first in Negros Occidental to have such a provincial housing program.

Escalante said70 houses are initially expected to be constructedthis year, and 140 more in the nextyears.

She said Marañon and his son, Rep. Alfredo Marañon III, assured her of a share in the amortization to further help the recipients so each beneficiary will now pay P2,800 as monthly amortization for a 90 square-meter house and lot.

The facilities and amenities include a clubhouse with a park, playground and a guard house.*GPB

Network celebrates
love month

GMA Network willhold a month-long celebration of love, this month, a press release from the network said.

The month-long light-hearted campaign with tag “One Love, One Heart, One Nation,” hits the audience straight to the heart through a series of frames aired over GMA’s free-to-air, regional, and international channels.

The Kapuso month jingle, sung by this generation’s two of the most promising tween stars – Lexi Fernandez and Derrick Monasterio – acquaint GMA with the muse that intermarries the Filipino Kapuso audience with the rest of the country be it in happiness or sorrow, the press release said.

The jingle can be heard thru gaps over GMA Channel 7, GMA News TV Channel 11, Barangay LS 97.1 and Super Radyo DZBB 594khz.

On air, its series of February launches on daytime and primetime have love as pivotal topic. Starting with the newest primetime creation Biritera topbilled by Glaiza de Castro, Angelika Dela Cruz, Dennis Trillo, and newest Kapuso child star Roseanne Magan, viewers can closely identify with Roseanne’s personal pursuit towards music. Biritera airs on weekday primetime right after 24 Oras.

In The Good Daughter, banner star Kylie Padilla resonates love in her character as Bea to protect her father from evils, and finds love in Rocco Nacino’s character as Darwin . The Good Daughter is showing on GMA Afternoon Prime everyday after Kokak.

Magic, adventure, and of course, love are once more present in Bea Binene’s most recent early primetime offering Alice Bungisngis and Her Wonder Walis. Bea as Alice casts spells to fight for her loved ones amidst bewitched powers of darkness. The show airs Mondays through Fridays before primetime newscast 24 Oras.

GMA likewise fires up its afternoon block with Broken Vow – starred by Bianca King, Gabby Eigenmann, Luis Alandy, and Rochelle Pangilinan. The story about a provincial lass set to be married to a political heir tells of love, betrayal, and revenge. Catch the gripping story everyday on GMA Afternoon Prime right before the hit Koreanovela series Love You, the press release said.

Topping the February launches is My Beloved – featuring the comebacking celebrated tandem of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes. The story tells of a mortal who falls in love with a fallen angel. It will premiere on February 13 on GMA Telebabad.

PACE officers take oath

The new officers of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees took their oath of office before Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. at the Governor’s Office, Monday, a Capitol press release said.

Elected were Alfredo Dinoy, president; Nimrod Sarmoy, vice president; Renelo Lastierre, secretary; Leo Galvez, treasurer; Ruben Diamante, auditor; Edmund Calaor, PIO; Al Ceralbo, Sergeant at Arms; and Beth Suyod, Josefa Cabasac, Dino Gasendo, and Neil Mapa asmembers of the Board of Directors.

Marañon advised them to promote good work practices among Capitol employees, and requested an assessment for some employees who may be qualified to enroll in the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Healt Program , the press release said.

PACE promotes the general welfare of Capitol employees, safeguards and protects the rights of its members through empowerment and active representation, thereby upholding work ideals for better quality of life, the press release added.*

Surgeons call on city mayor

Officers of the Philippine College of Surgeon-Bacolod Chapter recently called on Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, in connection with  their national convention in Bacolod on May 10-12, a City Hall press release said.

The convention will bring to Bacolod more than 1,000 member surgeons, some with their wives and children. Attendees are estimated at about 1,300.

Leonardia assured the PCS officials of the full support of the city in terms of mobilizing resources and manpower and  in line with the thrust of Bacolod as the convention center of Western Visayas, the press release added.*
