Couple apprehended for
carnapping charges

Charges for carnapping were filed Tuesday with the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office against a couple who allegedly failed to return the vehicle they rented from a rent-a-car dealer in Brgy. Singcang-Airport in the city.

Charges were filed against Mae Tanjusay, 24, of Bel Air Subdivision in Brgy. Tangub, and Nicholas Alova, 32, of Begornia Street in Brgy. Mansilingan, both in Bacolod, Station 8 chief, Senior Insp. Jerick Filosofo, yesterday said.

Filosofo added the couple is still detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 8 yesterday for failure to pay P180,000 each in bail.

He said more owners of rent-a-car establishments identified Tanjusay and Alova claiming that the couple had also victimized them.

On Friday, Roy Apurada, 36, of Burgos Poblacion Street in Valladolid, Negros Occidental, and owner of the Joe Express rent-a-car, reported that at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, Alova, who was with Tanjusay, introduced himself as “Reynaldo Ogabang” of Eroreco Subdivision, Bacolod, and rented his vehicle for P1,800 a day.

Apurada added he was able to talk to the real Reynaldo Ogabang later that day, who told him that his driver’s license had been lost and this prompted Apurada to coordinate with the police until the couple was arrested in Purok Kaingin in Brgy. Singcang-Airport.

. A red Mitsubishi Adventure was recovered from the couple with the car’s plate number found inside, police records showed.*APN
