PhilHealth starts
hiring nurses

The state-run Philippine Health Insurance Corp. has started hiring registered nurses to provide personalized customer care to members and dependents in hospitals where they seek treatment, a press release from the agency said.

PhilHealth president andchief executive officerDr. Eduardo Banzon, said the nurses will be employed as part of their Customer Assistance, Relations and Empowerment Staff, and will receive a monthly compensation of around P15,000, plus health insurance coverage.

Nurses interested to join PhilHealth CARES have until Feb. 14 to apply online. They may email their resumes to hrmdd.admin@philhealth.gov.phunder the subject heading “PhilHealth CARES Application”, the press release said.

Applicants should have superior communication skills, both oral and written; have the ability to listen and respond to customer concerns; be knowledgeable about MS Office applications; and adept at using online application systems on wireless communication devices, it added.

“We expect them to be totally customer-focused, passionate about results, and highly resourceful,” Banzon said.

He said at least 530 nurses will be initially deployed starting next month, after PhilHealth completes the recruitment and training processes.

Once deployed, Banzon said the nurses will ensure the hassle-free availment of benefits by qualified PhilHealth members via spot eligibility checks in hospitals.

“They will expedite the documentary requirements of PhilHealth members in hospitals, and lessen the return-to-hospital (benefit) claims,” he said.

“We are absolutely committed to care for every PhilHealth member and his or her qualified dependent,” Banzon said.

He said the CARES nurses will also help encourage non-members to enlist with PhilHealth, and facilitate payment of insurance premiums in the cashiering units of hospitals.

“We’ve chosen to recruit nurses not only because they’ve been trained to provide care for patients, but also we recognize that many nurses are having extreme difficulty obtaining any gainful employment,” Banzon said.

The Professional Regulation Commission sees the number of totally unemployed Filipino nurses hitting 298,000 this year, to include the 68,000 who took the licensure exam in December, the press release also said.*
