Robbery suspect falls

A suspected robber was arrested after he allegedly held up a collector of a lending company in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Friday.

Police identified the suspect as Renier Dellera, 34, of Kapitan Sabes Street in Brgy. Zone 4, Talisay City, who was nabbed in a follow-up operation.

Glen Ortaniza, 32, of Purok Sawmill in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, who is employed by Danher Credit and Lending, told the police he was about to board his motorcycle in front of the Jean Sari-Sari Store in Kapitan Sabes after collecting money from their creditors at about 7 a.m., when Dellera approached him.

Ortaniza claimed Dellera grabbed him by the neck, threatened him with a screw driver and declared a hold-up. Dellera took his P600 in cash and immediately fled on foot, he added.

Ortaniza immediately sought the help of the Talisay City police, who arrested Dellera a few minutes later.

Senior Police Officer 1 Joseph Renacido and Police Officer 2 Dominador Dollosa seized P262 in cash, believed part of the P600, that the suspect took from Ortaniza.

Dellera is detained at the lock-up cell of the Talisay City police while robbery charges are being readied against him.*APN

Fire hits 3 city houses

A house was razed to the ground while two others were damaged when fire hit a residential area in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Friday night.

Insp. Publio Ploteña, Bacolod City deputy fire marshal, said they received a call at about 8 p.m. informing them that several houses atTuna Extension in Brgy. Mansilingan were on fire.

He added that it took time to reach the area because of the narrow road leading to it. One of the fire trucks also got stuck in a muddy portion of the place, causing additional delay, Ploteña said.

He said some residents helped in putting out the fire by scooping water from a nearby creek.

No one was hurt but the fire left about P30,000 in damage to properties.

Fire Officer 1 Abdul Asis Limpaco, who investigated the incident, said the fire originated from the house of Julie Cañete and damaged other house and that of Marjorie Montaño.

Ploteña said the fire was caused by a kerosene lamp on top of a cabinet that was left unattended. The fire spread easily because the structures were made of light materials, he added.*APN
