Small entrepreneurs get
P8.1M in aid from DOST

The Department of Science and Technology in Negros Occidental has turned over P8,158,788 to seven beneficiaries of the Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program last month, Glady Tomulto, science research specialist said yesterday.

The recipients were Crisvil Enterprise (P990,000), Hinigaranon Home Made Delicacies (P1,285,000), PURO Organics Corporation (P1,826,000), Pueblo Bakeshop (P740,000), Technopacer Engineering Services (P999,600), UPSCALE-Negros Inc., (P1,995,000), and Vito Prints and Pieces (P323,188), Tomulto said.

She said the beneficiaries use the money to purchase equipment and materials that will help them improve their production and increase their efficiency.

The Innovation System Support Funds of SETUP-DOST offers technical assistance to assist them in upgrading their machines and equipment of manufacturing industries like textiles, furniture, metals, and foods, Tomulto said.

She also said that the amount loaned is payable in three years without interest, adding that the assistance aims to help beneficiaries progress in their businesses, reduce expenses, and make quality and competitive products.*LTG
