Man pushing drugs
meted life sentence

A man accused of peddling drugs in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday.

Judge Edgar Garvilles of the Regional Trial Court of Negros Occidental Branch 47 sentenced Elizalde Aquino Adorio to life imprisonment after finding him guilty beyond reasonable doubt for the sale of dangerous drugs in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Adorio was also ordered to pay a P500,000 fine,and committed to the national penitentiary for the service of his sentence.moremoremore

Cops arrest driver
for alleged rape

A tricycle driver was arrested in a follow-up operation at about 2 p.m. yesterday after he allegedly raped and attempted to kill a restaurant employee in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City.

The 27-year-old suspect of Purok Bayabasan, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod, whose name was withheld by the police, was arrested by operatives of the City Police’s Special Operation’s Group, Women and Children’s Complaints Desk and Police Station 3.

SOG head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, said they initially invited two tricycle drivers for questioning and later presented them to the victim, who positively identified the suspect.moremoremore

New P48M school
construction soon

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday that they hope to start the construction of the Education and Training Center School IV on the city’s property at the Reclamation Area under the 50/50 scheme of the Department of Education, early this year.

Education Secretary Armin Luistro and Leonardia signed a memorandum of agreement at the DepEd main office on February 9 for a 50/50 partnership in the construction of a new 48-classroom elementary school on the city’s 2-hectare property at the Reclamation Area.

“I am proud to announce that we are the first city in the Philippines given this partnership by the DepEd,” Leonardia said. moremoremore
