Aksyon Radyo holds
Blood-letting activity

Aksyon Radyo Bacolod’s socio civic arm Operation Tulong Task Force held a bloodletting activity, "Dugo mo, Kabuhi Ko 2012," on Valentine’s Day, at Lopue’s East Centre and generated 82 units of blood.

It was held in cooperation with the Bacolod City Police Office, BCPO Press Corps., Provincial Health Office-Provincial Voluntary Blood Services and Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital Blood Bank Center, an Askyon Radyo press release said.

OTTF Chairperson Wilma Sugaton, said the activity was highly successful and generated a record-breaking number of blood donors because of the support of BCPO City Director Sr. Supt. Ricardo dela Paz, BCPO Press Corps president Eric Magbanua also of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, Drs. Sharlene Sy, Mary Perez and Roel Gerson.

Sugaton also thanked the men and women of Provincial Health Office-Provincial Voluntary Blood Services and Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital Blood Bank Center. She said that the blood collected will definitely be of huge help for indigent patients.

A week earlier, nearly a hundred indigent patients also benefitted from a medical mission in San Carlos City spearheaded by Aksyon Radyo Bacolod’s Operation Tulong Task Force and Radyo Natin – San Carlos City, Aksyon Radyo’s sister station in San Carlos City.

Members of Operation Tulong Task Force aside from Sugaton, are Nona Magbanua, Sunshine Lacson and Felix Campaniel.*

Gallery Orange
featured at park

Gallery Orange joins this year’s Art In The Park at the Jaime Velasquez Park, Salcedo Village, Makati, tomorrow.

Art in the Park is a one-day fund-raising project of the Museum Foundation of the Philippines, an annual art fair participated by various galleries, studios and even schools, offering affordable artworks by art students and established artists alike, a press release from the gallery said.

As part of its goal to promote Bacolod’s local artists, Gallery Orange will show artworks of artists like Dennis Ascalon, Roderick Tejing, Moreen Austria, Darel Javier, Miki-boy Pama, JR Delleva, Jovito Hecita, Totc Co and Doods Campos.

Every year, AIP invites selected artists to do an installation work on the park grounds. This year, they have invited Bacolod artist Charlie Co, who will bring in three life-sized sculptures inspired by his own painting, The Checkmates.

Gallery Orange will be in booth E1 while Charlie Co's installation work will be located at the entrance of the park, facing Velasquez St.

Art in the Park tomorrow will only be from 2 p.m. until midnight, the press release added.*

Fellowship dinner
special conducted

A fellowship dinner was hosted by the Pillars of Home, an auxiliary group of Bacolod Bethany Church at Royal Meadows, for Bethany couples and their families recently, a press release from organizers said.

The party emceed by Bing Aledron, was held at the clubhouse of Bethany Court, Bgy. Estefania, Bacolod City. A battle of “Pick up lines” was the game of the night. Anton Derayunan, Maymay Jubelag, Noni Telis, Rosie Evangelista, Pane Llavore, Joel Derayunan and Analia King were the winners.

The affair was also a “despedida” for Bebette and Scarlet Jimenez who are leaving for San Jose, California. A photo video compiled by Glenda Cadagat, Neneng and Maymay Jubelag was presented, the press release added.*

Art circle opens exhibit

The Alla Prima Art Circle opened an exhibit titled “With All My heART” at the Dizon-Ramos Museum in Bacolod City recently with guests of honor Judge Ray Alan Drilon of the Regional Trial Court Branch 41, and Sony Golez of the Art Association of Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.

Sound performance artist and Alla Prima member Mel Araneta, presented an act, titled “Poisonousound”. A poetry reading number was presented by AAB artist Chin Guanzon.

The exhibit features 24 artworks of 17 Alla Prima Art Circle artists from Bacolod, Silay and Iloilo, showcasing their different interpretations of love.

The artworks are composed of three wood sculptures, one terracotta sculpture, two functional sculptural assemblages and the rest are wall paintings.

The variety of artworks in this exhibit, mirrors the diversity of the personalities of the artists, the press release said.

Contributing artists of the show are Mel Araneta, Gtol Aristorenas, Nicoy Colandog, Mache Dela Torre, Gracious Espinosa, Nunistelle Fulo-Lee, Rez Galvez, Hardy Tiu Gubac, Butch Libo-on, Patty Jane Ku Ong, Carol Salvatierra, Tex Romero, Gabrielle Marie Tirol, Jing Torrecampo, Michelle Ma Belle Tupaz, Anna Ursal, and Duvince Zhalimar.

Some of the artworks of the group are also currently on display at the Cuayx Restaurant that serves as their permanent gallery where they change artworks periodically to match the theme of the season. The “With All My heart” exhibit will run until April 2012, the press release added.*
