4 stolen motorcycles
recovered in Toboso

Four motorcycles believed stolen by members of an organized crime group in southern Negros, were recovered by a combined team of policemen and Highway Patrol Group operatives in two successful anti-carnapping operations Monday and Wednesday, in Toboso, Negros Occidental.

Chief Insp. Gabriel Gutierrez, Sagay police chief, yesterday said they recovered two suspected stolen blue XRM 125 motorcycles, with chassis numbers NR150351121 and 160300637, and with engine numbers 16E030643 and 15E035132, respectively, from Bibiano Salado Alquiza and Rolando Nombra Alquiza, in Brgy. Bug-ang, in Toboso town on Feb. 13.

Police investigations showed that the two motorcycles were sold to the Alquizas by Wennie Gonzales, who also claimed that these were brought to him by Sergio Negro, alias “Sarge,” of Brgy. Paraiso, Sagay City, in the province almost two months ago.

A follow-up operation by the Sagay police and HPG operatives on Wednesday, with the assistance of the Toboso police station, resulted in the recovery of two more stolen XRM motorcycles with chassis numbers XRM 12-052-027772 and KTM 100011, engine numbers KTM 10E000012 and XRM 110 ME 702772, respectively, from Dionaldo Gequilan Arguillo and Wennie Gonzales.

Gutierrez said the motorcycle recovered from Gonzales came from the friend of Negro, who was identified through only the alias “Ever.”

Police investigations further showed that the chassis and engine numbers of four recovered motorcycles were suspected to have been tampered.

The Sagay police had stepped up tis anti-carnapping campaign after an unidentified suspect stole a 155 TMX motorcycle owned by Michael Toledo, that was parked in front of the City Hall, last month.

Gutierrez said they are conducting an in-depth investigation on the series of thefts of motorcycles, to unmask the identities of the suspects and to file of charges against them, as soon as the complainants surface to claim their stolen vehicles.

He also acknowledged the help of barangay officials in Toboso in the recovery of the stolen motorcycles.* GPB

Amputee killed in
road mishap named

The unidentified amputee who was killed after she was sideswiped by a passenger jeepney at Lacson Street, in Bacolod City has been identified by her family.

The victim was known as Nelly Bacaro, 35, of Brgy. Montevista, Bacolod City, whose left arm has been amputated.

Senior Police Officer 1 Dennis Perma, Traffic Management Unit, chief Investigator, said Bacaro was identified by her sister, Suzette Taburada, 50, of Luzuriaga Street, Brgy. 29, and her mother Lucia Bacaro, 73, of Purok Riverside, Brgy. Montevista, at the morgue of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital at about 9:30 p.m. also on Tuesday.

Perma said jeepney driver, Elmer Enema, 45, of Purok Pinetree in Brgy. Bata, in Bacolod was released from police custody after he and the victim’s family agreed on a settlement.

Investigation conducted by Police Officer 2 Eliseo Adraneda showed that the jeepney was heading north of Lacson Street when Bacaro, who is believed to be mentally unstable, suddenly crossed the street.

She sustained head injuries and was rushed to CLMMRH, where she died while being treated.*LMR
