IN KABANKALAN
2 robbers armed, dangerous
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Two suspects in armed robbery and murder incidents in Kabankalan City,  have been  categorized by the police as “armed and dangerous”.

Supt. Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, yesterday said they have established the identities of the two suspects through their “rogue’s gallery”, and  the help of  witnesses.

Initial police investigations also showed that the two suspects, whose identities are being withheld, have criminal records at the Kabankalan City Police Station.

The two suspected hold-uppers, riding on a motorcycle, shot and killed Celso Cari-an, a bodyguard of sugar trader Hermenia Ledesma, and took P2 million in cash  Wednesday in Brgy. 4, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, police said.

Cari-an,67, tried to stop the two suspects from getting the bag of Cheryll Begota, 32, secretary of Ledesma,  that  contained P2 million in cash, when he was shot,   a  Kabankalan police  report showed.

Mabugat said the families of the two suspects, who were visited by police investigators, refused to cooperate.

Cari-an  who was shot at a distance of about two meters by the two suspects, who were armed with a .45 caliber pistol and a revolver, succumbed to at least seven gunshot wounds.

Mabugat assured the family of Cari-an that they are exerting their best effort to arrest the two suspects, although he admitted they are still clueless as to their  whereabouts.

He, however, said they are getting information,  that  may help them  track down the two suspects.*GPB
