Sta. Fe Resort racked up its sixth straight victory at the expense of 888 Chinatown Square, 79-77, while Alfie’s Construction is on a three-game winning streak as it tamed Nena’s Rose I, in Class B of the 12th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup at Bacolod Tay Tung High School, Friday nightTTHS Po Hang Gym.

A fourth quarter rally by the 888 Chinatown Square threatened to overwhelm Sta. Fe Resort, but the latter maintained its composure to get away with the victory.

Sta. Fe took the lead at halftime, 40-37, then pulled away in the third canto with a commanding to 62-47 advantage behind a balanced offensive that saw Bol Manaloto scoring seven points and Arvin Chua and Wilson Dy delivering four points each.

2012 SCUAA opens in Iloilo

The national meet  2012 of State Colleges and Universities Athletics Association Sports opened yesterday in Iloilo City with  a parade from the Iloilo Provincial Capitol  to the Iloilo Sports Complex.

Seeing action in the weeklong sports and cultural meet are chartered colleges and universities all lover the country.

The participating institutions in the Western Visayas region are Aklan State University; Caiz State University (Roxas City); Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (Negros Occ.); Guimaras State College; Iloilo State College of Fisheries (Barotac Nuevo); Negros State College of Agriculture (Kabankalan City);

LJP Trading eyes title in
4-Man bowling tilt

LJP Trading NPBC earned a twice-to-beat advantage as Nonoy Hulguin of RJ Stars emerged as top qualifier among the top 10 bowlers in the finals of the Edjie and Maila Balayo 4-Man Team Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Coached by Buddy Ferrer, the LJP squad composed of Gil Villagante, Jam Morales, Steve Po, Hernand Garciniego, Abe Leong, Rey Gargar, and Ed Panes had 1,236 points in the last day of the eliminations to land in the top spot.

RJ Stars, led by Rowena Juarez, was No.2, while Davies of Romel Jover and Edgar Jerez was third.
