two injured in electrocution

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A construction worker was killed and his two companions seriously injured when they got electrocuted at the building they were working on at the Bacolod City downtown area at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Killed was Wilfredo Hubida, 36, of Brgy. Tinampaan in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, Police Station 1 commander, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales said.

Hubida sustained serious burns and was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

His companions Edgar Casimillo, 44 and Nestor Perocho, 26, both of San Dionisio town, Iloilo, sustained burns and were also rushed to the CLMMRH.

Investigation conducted by Police Officer 2 Dan Oliver Salazar showed that the victims were at the fourth floor of the newly renovated Philtrust bank building at Cuadra-Gatuslao atreets when the iron rod they were carrying accidentally hit a live wire.

Rosales said Casimillo and Perocho are now in stable condition but are still confined at the hospital.

He added that they are determining if the contractor of the building is liable for the incident because they found out that the construction workers did not have safety gear when the incident happened.*APN
