PNP: 10,823 Negrenses
have expired gun permits

The police has formed a task force to hunt down a former member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army–Alex Boncayao Brigade and his companions who figured in a shootout Saturday night, where two persons were killed and eight were injured, in Hacienda Lapus, Brgy. Kapitan Ramon,Silay City.

The RPA-ABB has also ordered a manhunt for its former member, Ryan Layo, who alleged engagedin a shootout with Richard Centina.

RPA-ABB spokesman Victorino Sumulong yesterday said that Ka Kenneth, commander of the RPA-ABB in the third district, has ordered an investigation and a manhunt for Layo, who has been inactive in their organization three years ago.

Supt. Rosauro Francisco, Silay police chief, said old grudges triggered the shootout between Layo and Centina.

Sumulong shared the statement of Francisco that the incident was sparked by an old conflict between Layo and Centina, who used to be employed as casual employees of the Silay City government.

The shootout claimed the lives of Centina and Sonny Boy Tongcua. The eight who who were injured, are now being treated in Bacolod and Silay hospitals.

Layo managed to elude arrest during a pursuit operation yesterday in Hacienda Cambi-an, Brgy. Dos Hermanas, Talisay City.

Francisco said Layo, who was reportedly armed with a .45 caliber pistol, and accompanied by three others clad in half-camouflage uniforms, and covering their faces with handkerchiefs, allegedly traded shots with Centina, who was also armed with a .45 caliber pistol.

Centina, who sustained gunshot wounds on his chest, left arm and feet, died while being treated at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City.

Layo fled with his three companions.

Two spent shells of a carbine rifle, an empty shell of .45 caliber pistol and that of a garand rifle, were also recovered from the crime scene, that was already “contaminated” when they arrived, Francisco said.

Initial investigations by the Silay police also showed that a CAFGU member, who was securing the benefit dance, fired a warning shot.*GPB

‘Apprehend bolt cutter gang’

Bacolod City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, ordered Station 1 commander, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales yesterday to identify and arrest the “bolt cutter gang” members operating in his area.

On Friday last week, suspected “bolt cutter gang” members destroyed the padlock of Hunter Motors at the Bacolod downtown area, and took P2,500 in cash.

De la Paz said suspects should be arrested once and for all, as they may victimize other business establishments in Bacolod.

Rosales said they have identified the suspects behind the robbery at the Hunter Motors. He added that there are at least three perpetrators, although he did not disclose their identities.

Station 1 policemen had also launched intensified operation at the Bacolod downtown area to minimize robbery incidents.

In November last year, an alleged notorious robber and member of the gang was arrested by members of the Police Regional Office-6 Intelligence Unit, after he and his two companions, who evaded arrest, robbed a lending firm at the Bacolod downtown area.

Among the items stolen, were a television set valued at P10,500, several mechanical tools, a wristwatch and a wall clock, two electric fans all valued at P2,800, a computer set valued at P30,000, and computer printers.*APN
