For the first time the Philippine National Police will use an electronic docketing system of crimes committed in Negros Oriental.
Through the Electronic Blotter System or the E-Blotter, actual crimes committed in a certain locality can be reflected, and be accessed in other police stations all over the province, later throughout the region, and all over the country.
Senior Supt. Eduard Carranza said the E-Blotter System will be launched on Friday, by PNP regional director, Gen Marcelo Garbo. The activity will start with a “bisekleta sa kinaiyahan” at 5 a.m. where policemen will use bicycles to go around the city and to send a message that the police is into environmental protection. A tree planting activity will be held at the city septage facility in Camanjac with city Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria will follow.
Carranza said that, through the E-Blotter system, all police stations in the province will be interconnected. A separate computer is also designated to blotter crimes involving women and children, he said.
The 27 sets of computers will be distributed to the police stations of the province Friday. The funding is initially shouldered by the PNP regional director with prior commitment of the mayors in the province.
After the E-Blotter launching, the provincial command will also launch the “police sa barangay” program in Dumaguete where police supervisors are assigned in certain barangays. Under the program, Carranza said, police supervisors will coordinate with barangay officials in the maintenance of peace and order.*JG
