Football school for kids
set to open this summer

To provide young football enthusiasts an environmentto learn and enjoy the sport, a football school for kids will open this summer at the Ayala Football Field in Talisay City.

Luan Verder, one of the founders of the Explorers Football School, said the school is an offshoot of the growing popularity of football in the country stirred by the Philippine national men’s team, the Azkals.

“Thanks to the Azkals, Negrenses have paid more attention to the sport in recent years and have become interested in making football as part of their children’s lives,” Verder said.

Top teams suffer loss in
SHARP Cup semis

Three teams with twice-to-beat advantage were beaten Sunday in the semi final round of Sharp Basketball Cup at Regent Pearl Subdivision gym in Barangay Alijis.

Despite the presence of  former PBA campaigner Vernie Villarias and ball wizard Sarian Ordas, No. 2 team BAYS Club yielded to No. 3 La Carlota, 80-77.

Not even the desperate 3-pointer of Adrian Melocoton which hit its mark in the dying seconds could save BAYS ys in the 40-Up division.
