La Consolacion College–Murcia, formerly known as the Immaculate Concepcion Academy and La Consolacion Academy, will launch its Golden Jubilee celebration today.
Activities will start at 8 a.m. with a Thanksgiving Mass at the school campus followed by a street parade and motorcade, program, memorabilia exhibit, video on the history of the school, agape lunch and field demonstration.
The golden jubilee theme is “ICA/LCA/LCC-Murcia’s Golden Jubilee Heritage: Augustinians Journeying Together as a Community of Friends”. It will peak on February 13–16, 2013 with a Grand Alumni Homecoming, Outstanding Alumni Awards, Search for Mr. and Ms. Golden Jubilee, and field pageantry on the history of LCC Murcia, a press release from Rudy Reveche said.
LCC was established in 1963 through the efforts of then Murcia parish priest, Fr. Atilano Morante and Sr. Benigna Preciosa, of the Augustinian Sisters. The late Don Generoso Villanueva and Negros Occidental Governor Valeriano Gatuslao donated the land for the school and Don Fernando Arguelles facilitated the building construction, while Don Florencio Aurelio housed the first community of sisters in his residence while construction was going on. The school opened on July 1, 1963.
The Golden Jubilee is sponsored by the first three batches of graduates – Classes 66, ’67 and ’68. Co-sponsors are the Rubilarians-ICA Class ’72 and ’73 and the Silver Jubilarians- LCA Class ’87 and ‘88.
The present principal of the school is Sr. Angelita de Sagun.*
