Cops confiscate
220 trisikads

A total of 220 trisikads were confiscated in Bacolod City from January until Wednesday for various offenses, Bacolod City Police Traffic Management Unit head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, said yesterday.

Acebuche said the trisikads were seized at Libertad, Lacson and San Juan streets and at the Bacolod downtown area.

They were confiscated by the task force, headed by Senior Police Officer 2 Arnaldo Briñas, whom the drivers entered prohibited zones for operating without licenses, TMU records showed.

Acebuche said the drivers of the trisikads were not arrested but were fined P200. He added that he is pushing for the increase in the penalty of trisikad drivers caught entering prohibited zones and without licenses.

Acebuche also said that Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo has ordered the confiscation of tricycles entering national roads.*APN

in drug buy-bust

Police arrested an alleged drug pusher in a buy-bust operation in Silay City, Negros Occidental, at about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Silay City police chief, Supt. Rosauro Francisco, identified the suspect as Benito Palaras, “alias “Bitoy”, 45, of Sitio Matagoy in Brgy. Rizal, Silay City.

Four more small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from Palaras during his arrest, police records showed.

Francisco said Palaras has been under surveillance since last year on information that he is into the illegal drug trade.

Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 12 of Republic Act 9165 or the sale and possession of illegal drugs will be filed against Palaras, who is detained at the Silay City police station lockup cell.*APN
